Enjoy fresh, quality seafood in an open-air waterside restaurant!
Nick's Seafood Restaurant has been serving seafood in Darling Harbor ever since 1998. The open-air setting is extremely enjoyable; as the cool breeze from the harbor cools you down, you can enjoy the sunset and amazing seafood.
With simplicity, the cooking accentuates the natural flavors of the sea. The ingredients are local and fresh; the mud crab we ordered was live until we ordered it. The restaurant also says that their oysters are freshly shucked. However, compared to the Sydney Fish Market, the oysters definitely lacked the freshness and tasted a bit fishy.

The mud crab came with a savory chill sauce. Under the crab, there were rice and vegetables.

The service is exceptional as well. Our waiter was extremely patient and suggested delectable dishes.
However, the platters are quite pricey, with prices ranging up to $175 AUD. The platters offer an amazing myriad of seafood, such as mussels, crabs, and calamari. The lobster came with a garlic butter sauce that they charged us an additional $10 for. It had an amazing texture and tasted very fresh. Nevertheless, about half of it consists of deep-fried food, such as fries and calamari. For people who do not enjoy fried foods, the platter may not be worth it.

The waiter recommended us order the baby octopus, and my parents say it was the best dish of the night. Normally, I don't like to eat octopus because it is too chewy, but the octopus served here is amazingly tender. The flavor was exquisite.

We also ordered the Fresh Barramundi Fillet, which is made from one the local fish of Australia. Personally, I did not enjoy this dish as much. The meat was tough and the flavor was not especially memorable. This order came with a side of salad.

While I was hesitant at first to order risotto or pasta at a specialized seafood restaurant, I will confidently say that the risotto and pasta did not disappoint. The risotto had a deep and rich mushroom flavor, and the pasta was delightful.

Overall, the dining experience is well worth it, with professional service, amazing food, and breathtaking views of Darling Harbor. Granted, there are a handful of other amazon seafood restaurants scattered around Darling Harbor, but this restaurant deserves your visit if you ever find yourself in Sydney or Darling Harbor!
